Polynucleotides

What are they?

Polynucleotides are fragments of DNA that are derived from fish, usually salmon and trout sperm. They are injected into the skin’s surface in tiny droplets.

Polynucleotides can help:

  • Horizontal lines crepey under eyes
  • Crepey skin on face, neck, knees
  • Large pores, dull skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Wound healing - great for pre/ post cosmetic surgery
  • UV damaged skin
  • Dark circles under eyes
  • Hair thinning and loss

How do they work?

Wherever our body recognises fragments of DNA, it triggers new tissue to be built in that area. For example, polynucleotides are used around dental implants to grow new bone cells to help them integrate into the body better. We are now harnessing this technology in aesthetic medicine to help to build new skin cells to regenerate and rejuvenate the skin. This results in better skin quality: thicker skin therefore a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, smaller pores, smoother texture, brighter more radiant complexion

Are polynucleotides a type of biostimulator?

‍Yes. A biostimulator is defined as an injectable that stimulates the body to use its natural processes to repair and regenerate. As we age, we lose collagen and elastin from the skin which reduces the skin’s elasticity and causes aging. Polynucleotides stimulate the body to produce new skin cells and more collagen and elastin are produced. This improves skin quality and texture.
