What is it?

Sculptra is a PLLA molecule that is injected into the skin using a cannula for delivery. It is mixed with sterile saline to deliver the product.

What can Sculptra be used for?

• Very loose, stretchy skin on face, neck
• Uneven, textured skin
• Large pores, dull skin
• UV damaged skin

How does it work?

Sculptra causes the skin to form type 3, then type 1 collagen. Type 1 collagen is stronger and more mature and helps our skin to look younger. This results in better skin quality: a much thicker skin, therefore a reduction in looseness and sagging, smoother skin texture and a radiant complexion. It also causes contraction in the skin, giving a tighter appearance.

Is Sculptra a type of biostimulator?

‍Yes. A biostimulator is defined as an injectable that stimulates the body to use its natural processes to repair and regenerate. As we age, we lose collagen and elastin from the skin which reduces the skin’s elasticity and causes aging. Sculptra stimulates the body to produce new collagen and elastin. This improves skin quality and thickness.

When will I see results?

Results develop over time, as the body needs time to respond to the stimulus. You will see a difference in skin quality at 6-9 months and tightening that keeps on improving for up to 2 years. Depending on the patient, you will need 2-3 sessions, 3-4 months between treatment. Results keep improving for up to 1-2 years.
